Zašto je bundeva zaštitni znak Noći veštica?

Слика

- "Svet ...

Can Preschool Children Be Taught a Second Language?

Слика
For years it has been thought that teaching a foreign language to preschool-age children would be futile. However, recent studies indicate that the best time for a child to learn another language is in the first three to four years of life. Here are some important reasons for exposing children to early second language learning. Language Learning Is a Natural Process When Children Are Young Adults often try to learn languages in a contrived way. Most people, for example, can recite the verbs in French—je suis, tu es, il est, elle est, nous sommes, vous êtes, etc. Yet they find it much more difficult to speak French naturally when they visit France. Yet when people immerse themselves in a language like children, through play and exploration, they can learn a language quickly and easily. So the more we become child-like in language learning, the easier it becomes. Children growing up in a well-rounded environment learn to speak at least 2,...

WHY LEARNING A NEW LANGUAGE MAKES YOU SMARTER

Слика
Learning a language is a powerful mental workout that uses  every form of memory we have . We need to acquire a repository of words, to form a vocabulary vast enough to express our messages. We also need the grammatical knowledge to put it all together. We need to use our muscles and motor control to wrap our tongue around the pronunciation. And we need to be able to do it fast, intuitively, without stopping to think about each translation. Fluency in any language requires a higher order understanding of it. Memorization will fall short, you can’t just accumulate words, you need to see the relationships and interactions between them. “Mastery requires both the possession of ready knowledge and the conceptual understanding of how to use it.”  –  Make It Stick As with many other higher forms of knowledge — such as music theory, a programming language, math or physics — it’s essential to see the whole system, to take a holistic view and understand int...

Are children much better language learners than adults?

Слика
Meet my friend Yukine. She’s 7 years old and speaks 5 languages:  English, Spanish, Japanese, German and Sign Language . When I visited the Canary Islands recently, we sat down for a chat, and I asked her about her languages and what she likes about each of them. Now, it’s a common myth that  children are much better language learners than adults . Unfortunately, this is a myth that’s perpetuated wherever you go, and is often used by adults to justify not trying so hard themselves… Children just soak up languages like a sponge, but it’s too late for me now. When you watch this video, you may find yourself feeling the same thing. But I want you to look a bit deeper into exactly how Yukine has managed to learn these languages, because there’s a very important lesson in there. How a child can learn 5 languages Here are the facts: She lives in Spain She speaks Spanish and Japanese at home with her parents She attends an English medium internatio...
